Accidentally scraping underground electric cable while digging bed?
I was digging down about 10-12 inches with a garden spade, when the point of my shovel scraping underground electrical cable located about 5 meters away from the house foundation. The shovel-scraping in the point layer 2 inches black-top cable, showing a white ring, but not cut. Power seems fine, but I was very frightened by that experience. What now?
Call a qualified electrician to make repairs. Before digging call for underground service locations. This cable must have bee buried about 36 "and have a warning tape over it. This shallow depth, which should have been in a rigid steel conduit, no direct burial. The electrician should be able to determine if it is a cable or one that was abandoned. Do not get it fixed.
